Learning to turn your upper body independently from your lower body is important to create ‘separation’ between the upper and lower body. The separation creates a rubber band effect at the top of the swing to unwind and release power on the downswing. This stretch will help you get that feeling.
Sit on the floor with your legs straight out.
Bend one leg across the other so that it is ben and the bottom of your foot is by the knee on the ground.
Twist your upper body in the opposite direction and look behind you.
Use your elbow to push your knee and feel a greater stretch in your torso.
Hold for 8 to 10 counts and repeat on the opposite side.
