How CardioGolf® Started... 25 Years Ago-
It's hard to believe, but this is where CardioGolf® began over 25 years ago.
This was the infomercial we filmed back then. We sold the Shortee Club and a CardioGolf® workout on DVD. A lot has changed since then, but the goal has always been the same—to help golfers move better so they can swing better.
Looking back, I think I was always meant to do something with golf-fitness.
I loved playing golf, but I also loved working out.
Back in high school, our gym teacher introduced us to a Jane Fonda workout, and I was hooked. After that, I worked out to just about every VHS tape I could get my hands on—and I probably still have a few of them because I save everything!
I worked out with Gilad, Body Electric on PBS, The Firm, Kathy Smith, my favorite Tamilee Webb's Buns of Steel, Jazzercise, Gin Miller's Step Aerobics, and Karen Voight.
My sister Cathy and I even went to a gym in Naperville called Flex. We wore leg warmers, bodysuits, and headbands and did old-school aerobics. We had so much fun.
Eventually, I put my two passions together—golf and fitness—and that's how CardioGolf® began.
As the program grew, it became even better when I teamed up with Vicki and Ken Pierce and started incorporating their GolfGym® training equipment into the workouts. Their equipment helped golfers feel the golf swing, build golf-specific strength, improve sequencing, and make the workouts even more effective.
Over the years, CardioGolf® has continued to grow and evolve. What started as a DVD has become an online studio with thousands of golf -itness workouts, swing drills, mobility sessions, strength training, pre-round warm-ups, and weekly performance plans for golfers of every age and ability.
Looking back, I'm grateful to all of those fitness instructors who inspired me over the years. They helped shape the way I teach and reminded me that workouts should be fun, motivating, and something you actually look forward to doing.
I'm also thankful to Vicki and Ken Pierce for their friendship and for helping me make CardioGolf® even better.
And most of all, thank you to everyone who has ever taken a CardioGolf® class, worked out with me online, bought a training aid, or simply followed along over the years.
I hope I've helped you move a little better, swing a little better, and enjoy this great game even more.
Here's to the next 25 years of CardioGolf®!
