It’s important to learn and practice these fundamental movement skills because they help you become a better, more consistent player. These aren’t traditional swing drills or positions — they’re the athletic movements that all good golfers can do with ease to create solid contact and fluid motion.
These are simple movements you can do anytime during the day. Repeat them often until they feel natural, so you don’t have to think about them when you’re on the golf course.
They include:
Holding the club correctly in each hand and finding proper setup positions
Swinging one arm at a time to feel connection and control
Hinging from your hips while staying balanced side to side
Performing a stable squat and maintaining posture
Pivoting with good hip rotation — both internal and external
Rotating your shoulders through a full range of motion
Sequencing your swing in the right order for timing and rhythm
When you can move well in these ways, your golf swing becomes easier, more powerful, and more repeatable.
