If your club moves out of position on the takeaway-if it goes inside too much or it goes outside too far-the rest of your swing becomes a series of compensations. The takeaway determines the rest of your swing. Make sure you get it right.
Stand in your golf posture holding a golf club.
Start your swing, keeping the clubface square.
Using your shoulders, followed by your arms and hands.
Stop at the halfway back point where the club reaches hip high and the toe of the club should point to the sky.
Return to the start position and repeat motion.
Do 8 to 10 repetitions.
