The fitness industry has been doing HIIT workouts or High Intensity/Interval Training for years. Read about the benefits of HIIT Workouts.
Now there is something called LIHIIT or Low-Impact/High Intensity Interval Training which I recommend for my clients to get a great workout but to also help them prevent injury. These lower impact workouts can be just as effective as the higher impact workouts if you focus on increasing the intensity of the low impact exercise.
LIHIIT stands for low-impact/high intensity interval training. Like HIIT workouts, LIHIIT workouts focus on short bursts of intensity training followed by a short recovery period. Unlike HIIT, LIHIIT emphasis on low impact movements that are gentler on the joints. During LIHIIT workouts you will keep one foot on the ground at all times so there is no running or jumping.
